Dear ,
I just came back from our kitchen table where Auriea made a list of the items she wanted to share with you in this second newsletter. There’s always more to talk about than we expect. But it’s been a busy few months as Auriea is working hard on an ambitious show in London. More about that below. On the menu today: bronze, sand, marble, crypto and video.
Last month we traveled to Cannes on the stunning French Riviera to see the beautiful bronze sculptures cast by Forgio from the 3D model NFT known as The Mystery v5-dv2. They are NOW offering these bronzes exclusively to collectors holding the NFT in their wallet.
The Mystery v5-dv2 was originally released in a show called The Bardo in 2021 (which was the second show EVER on Feral File). You may be able to still get the NFT on OpenSea incase you do not own it but would love a physical edition.
Each bronze is cast directly from the original 3D model and is available from Forgio by commission in four distinct patina finishes — alongside a monumental edition in black sand.
The new New York City gallery Heft has co-produced Auriea’s first sculpture in Carrara marble. Faunette II (timepiece) was featured in the group show entitled Groundwork. The marble was based on a digital original featured in the Gray Matter show of 2022. Hopefully Auriea will get to meet her new baby before it is sold off.
Auriea and Heft will continue the collaboration in December at UNTITLED Miami. Stay tuned for that! It’s rather exciting!…
We all know that Auriea makes pretty things. From my privileged position as her husband I know that she makes way more pretty things than anybody ever sees. She has had a habit for many years now of simply capturing her screen whenever something on it strikes her. This summer Auriea is giving everyone a peak into this collection of desktop works in progress. It’s a bit like a retrospective diary. She posts a new image every day on OBJKT.com. The NFTs tend to be very cheap and sell out quickly. So if you want to be sure to grab one, follow @auriea on X to keep up to date with the daily releases.
Go and get a taste at Screenshots Folder, a collection of collectibles.
Auriea’s work will be featured simultaneously in two places in London in September.
As mentioned above, my dear spouse has been insanely busy lately. She’s creating an all digital exhibition for the Arebyte gallery’s brand new location in Camden in London in the United Kingdom. The work has been so intense because she’s using all sorts of media that she’s never seriously touched before. I must admit I got a bit jealous when she kept talking about this Claude fellow who was helping her code some mysterious keyboard.
The new piece is entitled (this room is a sculpture called) PROPHECY and it takes over the entire new space with an immersive installation about four Old Testament Prophets. For their animations, Auriea’s movements were coached by choreographer Ania Catherine in Madrid to be turned into digital magic by our old friend Laura Raines Smith (who animated all the characters in Tale of Tales’ games). The show is curated by Pita Arreola. We will send you an invitation to the opening, soon!
Dedicated to overachieving, my wife decided that showing Black Ship in Centre Pompidou in Paris wasn’t enough. So the Black Ship will be installed in the Subject to Change exhibition at Gazelli Art House in Dover Street.
I’ll probably be joining Auriea in London to help set things up and/or hold her hand. But first we’re taking a little vacation: cooling off in the North with the Belgian side of the family.
I hope you found this newsletter enlightening, entertaining, engaging or enthralling. Please consider collecting Auriea’s work. We’re running out of space in our living room.
Do have a wonderful summer,
the committed servant that is a husband,
Michael.
