Dear ,

I accompanied my wife to London for the opening of This room is a sculpture called PROPHECY on 11 September. I was much pleased to hear my audio contributions in context. And excited to attend the blessing of the show by Father Mark of Our Lady of Hal. But mostly, extremely impressed by the effort of the Arebyte team to put together this amazing installation. When we got back home, Auriea was able to finally relax a little after months of hard work. Except that she returned to London a few weeks later for the opening at Gazelli Art House. And she will be going back again this month. So if you miss her, it’s going to be your own fault. Read on for details.

Prophecy in London

Auriea will be discussing “Technology, Mysticism & Spirituality” with Olivia Ema, Sian Fan and Paul Luckraft at Arebyte in London on Wednesday 19 November. There seems to be something in the air. Many are still DIY-ing their religion but suddenly it’s not weird anymore to be Catholic. Interesting!

You can still visit This room is a sculpture called PROPHECY until 21 December in Arebyte Gallery. But if London is impossible for you, please accept a small consolation in the form of this short walkthrough video.

Black Ship in London

While in London, also go see Auriea’s Black Ship with a new mural and a new AR version in Subject to Change at Gazelli Art House until 19 December.

Solo in Miami

During Art Basel in Miami (so not in Switzerland) there’s a contemporary art fair, cleverly called Unitled Art. In this art fair there’s something called the Artist Spotlight which is a prominent presentation of one artist curated by, digital painter, Petra Cortright. And she has selected Auriea to be one of the artists this year. So we are shipping a bunch of the crates that had only arrived here a few month ago back to the USA, together with some pieces that have never crossed the ocean, so that the wonderful HEFT Gallery can set up a beautiful exhibition in Miami Beach from 2 to 7 December. Auriea will be present at the event while I go to Belgium to help my daughter Martha move into her new house that she bought with her boyfriend David.

Auriea in the press

There’s been some interesting press lately about Auriea’s work. Here, for instance, is an article about one of Auriea's NFT experiments. A project called Me and My Ghost.

And for the almost 200 year old magazine The Tablet, we were both interviewed extensively by the lovely Bronac Ferran. Unfortunately, a lot of the text had to be cut to fit the edition. But the remainder is still highly recommened reading.

Refresh Magazine also published an article about Auriea’s “poetic resistance” that describes the Prophecy exhibition quite thoroughly.

Award for mother/child

We were a bit surprised when, a few months ago, Auriea was asked to submit a YouTube video to a digital art contest here in Italy. And then suddenly, when we had all but forgotten about it, a message arrived that her work was a finalist, next to that of Martina Menegon, Quiet Ensemble and The Cool Couple. We were invited to the award ceremony to took place during a very high profile B2B tech conference in Rimini, a popular beach town on the Adriatic coast of Italy. So we went and we sat through long presentations about the use of AI in business given from a spectacular round platform in the middle of the room with giant screens on each wall. There was even a live band and a famous Italian actress MC-ing the whole thing. At the end of afternoon, the people who run the VDA Award ascended the stage and after a suspenseful countdown video, Auriea’s name appeared on the screens. Her mother/child had won!

What we did not know is that this “VDA Award” is kind of a big deal in Italy. We only really found out after the avalanche of press about the event —including some interesting interviews. The company behind the award and the “Z!ng” conference, VAR Group, is a giant! What a strange and wonderful land we live in. Anyway, winning the award also means that the mother/child digital sculpture will be acquired by the VAR Group for their growing collection of digital art. Amaz!ng.

The end

No longer will the tweeting of Auriea (or her bot) be heard on the social media platform that now goes by the name of X. For the moment you can still find Auriea on Instagram. And for probably a bit longer on her website. Just email her.

So, yeah, my wife’s been busy. And there’s more coming up! Have you heard about the Montana project👀? Well, it looks like its going to happen! More about that in a next newsletter. And then there’s rumors about some group show in Rome’s MACRO museum. In December, if I remember correctly. We’ll see about that. But what I want to know is how it seems to be impossible for any of the photographers at these fancy events to capture my wife’s unearthly beauty? I mean! Anyway, I better get back to the kitchen now.

Love and peace and joy,

her simple slave, Michael.
