Dear ,
It’s quiet in our apartment. But disorderly. Auriea is not here and I’m living like a bachelor. She’s in the USA now celebrating Thanksgiving with her family and then she's off to Miami. More about that below.
If you’re planning on going to Miami for Art Week, make sure you arrive a bit early to catch Auriea speaking at LACMA Digital Art Conversations on December 1st, from 2:10 PM – 2:55 PM. The panel is called Digital Bodies: Virtual Identity and Mythos Through Figuration and features, next to my wonderful spouse, Maya Man and Yatreda, and is moderated by Regina Harsanyia. I suspect some conceptual juggling in assembling this panel. Did you notice that the first names of all participants end in A? None of the other speakers were this fortunate and now they have to present on their own. So sad.
Anyway, the panel takes place in the Matador Room at The Miami Beach EDITION, 2901 Collins Ave in Miami Beach. On Monday, December 1.
Auriea will be the center of attention at UNTITLED Art in the Artist Spotlight curated by Petra Cortright from December 2 to December 7. Expect a spectacular special solo installation in the HEFT booth! There’s a catalog of all artists that includes Auriea’s pieces from the booth.
Untitled is on Ocean Drive and 12th Street in Miami Beach.
You can still visit This room is a sculpture called PROPHECY at Arebyte Gallery until 21 December. Highly recommended!
Also on its last days is Subject to Change at Gazelli Art House. You can still see the beautifully fragile Black Ship until 19 December.
I’m in cold Belgium while Auriea is in warm Florida. But we will be reunited just in time to decorate our home for Christmas. I’m looking forward to the feast this year more than usual, even if it means traveling to the dark north again to be with my family. But I hope we can bring some southern light, some light of hope. Hope for a joy no man could conceive of before the event that we are celebrating.
May these dark months be filled for you with glorious light,
her unworthy admirer, Michael.
